Welcome to the American Crafts blog today! It’s Gail here and I’ve recently jumped on board with traveler’s notebooks! I’ve started one such notebook to document my own thoughts, feelings and experiences. With Mother’s Day coming up, I was inspired to jot down a few current thoughts on motherhood and I’d love to share it with you!
I used the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection as I thought the beautiful florals and feminine colors suited the mood and feel of what I was trying to convey. I went with a bold punch of yellow for the background of the left hand page and added just a strip of black + white pattern to the far right page.
I typed my journaling onto some white cardstock and added it to the right page also.
A photo of myself, my mother and my daughter that we snapped recently seemed fitting for my motherhood musings. I kept the photo black and white and framed it with the title and a few simple embellishments!
It’s important to me when working in my personal traveler’s notebook to use colors and embellishments that I love and that reflect my style.
My journaling is usually just thoughts that pour out of me when sparked by a particular idea. In this case it was a quote that I came across. And with Mother’s Day approaching it was foremost on my mind!
I added the quote to my spread – simply lift up my journaling to reveal the typed quote underneath! A little bit of washi tape is all you need to create a ‘hinge’.
I don’t know about you but most of my scrapbooking layouts are about or for my children. So now I’m glad to have a little creative project that’s just for me! I urge you to take some time out this Mother’s Day to reflect, create and perhaps even jot down some thoughts about what motherhood means to you!
