Je t’aime Layout

Hiya! Jamie here and I don’t know what it is about these latest collections, but they’re making me want to scrapbook vintage photos!

This layout was created using Dear Lizzy’s new Lovely Day collection. It’s what inspired the story I wanted to tell! I loved the little rabbit with “je t’aime” text on the Tag You’re It patterned paper. It triggered two memories for me. One, the fact that my mama called me her little bunny rabbit when I was a baby. And two, the fact that my name comes from the world “Je t’aime” which means “I love you” in French. I didn’t think I needed to make two pages about that, so I combined both topics in the journaling.

There weren’t specific photos for this story, so I pulled a couple cute photos of me as a baby. Yep, I was a chunker. I took photos of the originals just using my iPhone. Did some simple edits in Photoshop and then printed them out the sizes that I wanted. I don’t think you would even be able to tell that these are photos of photos!

I knew I wanted the title to be large and the focus of the page (alongside the photos of course) so I tried something new. I created the text using the software from my digital cutter and then offset the letters so there’d be a nice outline. I removed the word and left the outline, laid these two sheets of patterned paper on the cutting mat and sent it to cut. Then, I backed both patterns with a sheet of white cardstock to create a full 12×12 sheet. After that, I cut the word out of that great floral pattern (Oh Hello pattern) and adhered it the white cardstock.

The rabbit embellishments were really important for me to include. I knew that going in, so made sure to choose two patterned papers (Pretty Posies & C’est La Vie) that would let the embellishments shine. I included a die cut rabbit, puffy sticker rabbit and that great dimensional rabbit with a furry tail! You’ll notice I didn’t even use the tag that originally inspired the layout. That’s ok, I’ll save it for another layout!

I’m so happy with how the page came out and excited to add it to my childhood album. Next time you’re stuck on what to scrapbook next, take a look at your products and see what stories you mind conjures up!
