Hello friends! Today I’m excited to share a fun idea for displaying travel memories! Because as much as I love documenting life with scrapbook layouts, some memories deserve to be on display!
I had the idea to use the gorgeous and fun clothespins in the newest collection from Dear Lizzy – Saturday. They would be perfect for pinning up photos but I needed something to attach them to. I picked up an inexpensive canvas at the craft store and I was all set to create my Memory Board!
Last year we stayed for a week at the beach and it was just such a fun, relaxing time! My kids still talk about it! I wanted the board to be bright and colorful to reflect this.
I started by masking off the plain white canvas into three large sections and adding yellow and aqua paint to two of them to give me a “striped” background. (By the way, my canvas is 18” x 24”.)
The next step was to take some bakers twine and start wrapping it around my canvas, to give me somewhere to add my clothespins. I fixed the ends of the twine to the back of the canvas with hot glue.
Then it was time to add the clothespins and photos! I spaced them out fairly evenly before adding my photos. I ended up adhering the clothespins to the canvas with more hot glue as I wanted some of them angled.
Some of my photos are pegged right on there and for other photos I added a mat of patterned paper from the Saturday collection for more color and interest! A couple of strips of washi tape and a chipboard ‘Just For Fun’ in the centre was just enough embellishments to keep the focus on the photos!
My idea is to switch the photos out for each vacation! We’ll be heading to the beach again this month so will have a fresh batch of memories to display! Now I just need to find the perfect wall to hang it!
