Hazelwood Mini Album

I love creating mini albums from scratch – deciding on what size, what to make the pages out of, the theme etc. I’m excited to share with you today my latest mini album creation and I sincerely hope you like it!

You can see that I used the amazing Hazelwood collection for this project. First up, for the actual mini album pages, I used the engraved wood specialty paper! It’s actually thin wood with a gorgeous floral pattern engraved on it! I cut it down with a craft knife and ruler (take your time when doing this) to 4 ¾ “ x 4 ¾ “. I then used the Crop-a-dile and Corner Chomper from We R Memory Keepers to round the corners and punch a hole at the top where the pages will be added together.

This specialty paper is perfect for mini album pages as it’s nice and sturdy! Plus it already has a pattern on it! If any edges are a bit rough from cutting them down, just give them a light sand and you’re ready to go!

I had four mini album pages to decorate – this is the really fun bit! Taking one page at a time, I added patterned paper strips, washi tape, stickers, die cuts and photos to each!

My “cover” page has a photo of my three children on it as well as a simple typed title: Remember This . . . I added a couple of layers behind my photo, all anchored on a wide strip of the black and white plaid patterned paper that is my favorite!

The next page in the album is photos of my eldest. I was able to include some more florals and pinks on this girly page! A couple of finishing touches included using my mini stapler to attach the camera paper clip and the gold foil word ‘lovely’ which I thought fitted this page perfectly!

The next page was for my middle child and oldest son so I kept the colors and patterns a bit more masculine. I love that there’s so many options in this collection that are suitable for boys and girls!

I love having bits and pieces peeking out from inside my mini albums so on each page I’ve added patterned paper strips that hang over the edge of the wooden pages.

For the final page of my youngest son, I added his photos on top of layered banner strips. I tucked another paper clip – this time a leaf – in the corner of one photo and finished off with some gold foil die cuts.

The pages of the album are easily kept together with a silver binder ring.

This simple mini album capturing some of my favorite photos of my kids, now gets passed around and looked at almost daily! Thanks to the sturdy engraved wood mini album pages, I know it’s going to stand up to the test of time . . . and little hands!
