Handmade Cards by Erica Fields

Hello my crafty friends, it’s Erica Fields here on the American Crafts blog. Today I am sharing a few handmade cards using the beautiful Marigold collection by Maggie Holmes. The colors remind of fall and I am always thankful for fall weather!

For my first card I used the Crate Paper – Marigold Boxed Card Set. I chose the pretty floral pattern for my base. Then I used some of the ephemera from the collection to layer the top of the card. I did some stitching around the tag and die cut out a bow. I then layered the gold vellum butterfly. To finish it off I added the chipboard word “thankful for you.”

The second card I made also using the Marigold Boxed Card Set. I decided to die cut the image of the swan with a wonky stitch die, then layer a piece of gold cardstock for an extra layer. Some of the pre-made cards have an image on the front of the card and the back of the card is a pattern. So I used the next size nesting die and cut the patterned side of the card to add an additional layer. I finished it off with a die cut bow.

The last card I made was with the adorable squirrel image. I used a circle die to cut the image out of the card base then layered it with the floral background & vellum die cuts from the collection. The next layer is the other side of the card. I tied some pink seam binding to create a pretty bow. I used heavy weight cardstock to adhere my card base down.
