Short bio: Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be guesting here at American Crafts. My name is Nancy Damiano and I live in New Jersey with my husband, son, and a gaggle of nieces and nephews that I adore. I have a passion for the color aqua, Disney World and anything paper + craft. I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. I learned long ago that the best things are handmade.
How did you get started scrapbooking? My husband started it. He was looking for a Christmas gift that was crafty and picked up a scrapbook kit. And that started an obsession with paper and photos and words that has lasted 12+ years. I think there might be times when he regrets picking up that fateful kit!
What is your favorite American Crafts product? Without a doubt, the 6×6 paper pads. I love using bits and pieces of pattern in my layouts. Neutral backgrounds with pops of color is my favorite design aesthetic. The American Crafts 6×6 paper pads deliver on both.
Using embroidery floss to create a spider web effect on this background is a fun way to connect the die cuts and emphasize the theme of the page. Adding snippets of journaling on strips of white cardstock tells the story behind the photos and adds movement to the design.

White stitching on a white background adds a layer of beautiful texture to a design. A pop of green watercolor and strips of washi tape frame out the simplicity of the stitching.

Layering party elements like the paper straw, die cuts and ribbon give this card a fun twist. The sentiment was cut out using an electronic die cut machine and highlight with some splatters of aqua ink.

Creating a photo wreath on a layout is a fun way to display photos. The white embroidery floss frames out the layout and gives it a clean, linear design. A few black and green ink splatters add a fun twist and color.

Using the Halloween party elements in this collection is a fun way to dress up your mantle this season. I kept it very simple, mixing the Halloween rosettes, pom pom flowers and accordion shapes with a few family favorites.
