If you’re half as addicted to scrapbooking as I am, you would have had one of those moments when you see a patterned paper and immediately know that you’ve got photos to match it! Ha ha! Well that happened to me when I saw some of the papers in the newest collection from Amy Tangerine, Oh Happy Life!
The bright, fresh colors reminded me immediately of some photos of my youngest son at the beach last summer – with the blues and teals of the ocean and the orange and reds of his swimmers and sand toys!
I started by adding a strip of the striped patterned paper down the left side of my background cardstock to immediately bring in all those gorgeous colors!
I was able to bring in several more patterned papers with my title. I cut the word ‘explore’ from cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed each letter with a different pattern. I left a bit of space between each letter as I was planning to hand stitch around each one to really make a feature of it!
I added a really subtle blue watercolor wash behind my photo. This is one of my favourite techniques to break up a white background and the effect really mimics the look of the ocean waves.
A pop of yellow behind my photo and just a peek of one of the amazing die cut tags were enough to draw attention to my photo.
Some typed journaling strips, and a couple of phrases from the roller stamp complete the layout. It’s fun, bright, fresh and happy – just how I remember the day we spend at the beach!
