Creating small pieces of framed art for my home is my favorite type of DIY project. It’s a simple way to add a punch of color and whimsy to any space in your home. Using the new Vicki Boutin Mixed Media line is a great way to get your projects started!
I love the look of handwritten, watercolored words but I definitely don’t have the skills to paint one myself. A great workaround, is to use an electronic die cut machine to create an 8×10 frame of brush script words. Let the cut file do the work for you! Simply use art crayons and a waterbrush to create the background sheet. Layer the cut words over this background and there you have it – faux watercolored words in a beautiful brush script!
Add a swish of gold detail by using a paintbrush and a flick of Vicki Boutin glaze to underline the words. Next, sprinkle gold flakes and coarse glitter over the glaze to adhere. This creates a beautiful sparkly effect that highlights the words and frame.
Creating seasonal decor pieces like this Love frame are both easy and fun! It’s a great way to try out a new medium. The Vicki Boutin Mixed Media line is full of wonderful art products that will make your projects shine!
