Custard Kisses & Gift Packaging

Hello again! It’s Gail here to share one of my favorite baking recipes with you and the best part is that it only has four ingredients and is super easy! I’ll also share how I packaged them up perfect for this season of giving!

First, let me share the very easy recipe with you!

Custard Kisses

Ingredients:

1 ½ Sticks of Butter (or 160g)

½ cup Powdered Sugar

1 ½ cups Flour

½ cup Custard Powder

Method:

  1. Beat butter and sugar to a cream.
  2. Sift flour and custard powder together and gradually add to butter and sugar until it’s all combined and is a thick paste.
  3. Roll into small balls (teaspoon size) and placed on a greased baking tray.
  4. Press each ball of dough down slightly with a fork.
  5. Bake in a moderate oven until a pale golden color (approx. 12-15 mins).

Now here comes the “kisses” part – I stick two of the small cookies together with frosting in the centre! Yum!

Seriously, this is so quick and easy to do that it’s what I always bake when I’m expecting guests within the hour! And even better when you can package a few up in some of the Treat Tins to give as gifts!

I chose to use the smaller size Treat Tins in the Black & White design. I grabbed some of the coordinating Treat Tissue and lucky for me that six of these delicious Custard Kisses fitted nice and snug in the Treat Tins! I love how the yellow of the cookies pops against the black and white design!

Now onto the finishing touches! I started by adding some flicks of white paint to the lids and while they were drying I gathered some bits and pieces to embellish the tops of the Treat Tins. I decided to follow an aqua theme for the rest of my embellishments.

For the first tin below, I couldn’t resist adding the “Sweet Things” rubber shape from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life collection! I adhered it to a metal rimmed tag, added a fluffy ribbon bow and lots of twine!

For the second tin, I added foam Thickers saying ‘Thank You’ to the top and tied the tied it up with more aqua twine. It needed a little something else so I die cut a couple of feathers from some aqua patterned paper (all from the Oh Happy Life collection) to add to the twine bow. Perfect!

And finally, for the third tin I created a tag using a Die Cut tag as the base, adding my word ‘thanks’ with black Thickers and a sweet aqua bird die cut and finished it off by clipping it to some twine with a tiny clothespin.

I need to get to work creating because I think these are just the most perfect, heartfelt gift for anyone this season! I have lots of teachers, neighbours and friends that I intend on giving these too! I really do have so many reasons and people to be thankful for!
