One of the things I love best about creating mini-albums, is figuring out how to mechanically make them work with the supplies I have. For this mini I knew I wanted to use my small binder rings to keep it all together, and then I decided it would be fun to make it stand on its own, just like a small desktop calendar. I love this format, as I can keep the album on display and flip the page on a daily basis!
To begin I created each page by mounting a 4×6 photo onto a 5×7 piece of coordinating paper from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Collection. This collection is so colorful and modern. I just love the way it complements my photos and takes the whole album to the next level of saturation.
Once I had all my pages prepared, eight in all, I decorated them each with the stunning embellishments from the Lovely Day collection. I adore the Chipboard accents and phrases and almost used the whole two sheets for this one project. I couldn’t help myself and peppered in a few embellishments from the Amy Tangerine On a Whim collection as well as the Shimelle Little by Little collection.
Once my pages were complete, I sandwiched two hang tags in between two back to back pages and adhered them well with my strongest adhesive. I then stacked all my pages in order and used my binder rings to assemble the album.
The bones of the album were complete at this point, but I wanted there to be more cute, more interest, more going on, so I cut apart the beautiful large hangtags from the Dear Lizzy, Tag You’re It 12×12 paper, and journaled on the back, slipping them in between the pages, and attaching them with the binder rings.
To finish off the album I hung a few of the die cut accents from the rings and created a stand to keep the album sturdy while on display. The stand is simply a 7×12 piece of paper down the middle at 6 inches and on either side of that at 5 inches. I then folded the paper like a “w” and then adhered two small hangtags at the top to incorporate the stand at the end of the album.
I absolutely love this little reminder of our most recent beach vacation. With minimal hardware I have an album that can stand sturdy while on display but fold flat when it’s time to store it away. I hope you’ll check out the Lovely Day collection and perhaps make a sweet little mini of your own.
