Create a Fall-Themed Layout by Kylie Kingham

Hello friends, it’s Kylie with you all today, sharing a fun layout I created with the Late Afternoon collection by Amy Tangerine. I wanted my completed page design to feature lots of color and to have a textured, rustic appearance. With a lovely Autumn vibe and SO many beautiful papers to choose from in this range for my background, I selected quite a few different patterns and color variations.

To create my background I first selected a white cardstock base. I then created a template from scrap cardboard for the elongated strips of paper that would feature coming out from behind my photos. I did this to ensure they would all be the same shape and size. Once my template was cut out, all I needed to do was to trace it onto my selected pieces of paper.

Using the blade of my scissors I carefully distressed the edges of each paper strip for added texture. Using my photos as a guide I then adhered them to my background, being careful to make sure they were all spaced as evenly as I could. I used double sided tape to adhere them as I find glue can make the paper warp ever so slightly. Once they were all in place, any excess overhang was trimmed off and I added some machine stitching around the edges of all pieces. I didn’t worry too much if this was neat and straight. I actually like the rustic effect ‘wonky’ stitching can add.

Whilst I selected two images for my layout, they were a print of the same photo. Each were backed with some tissue paper from my craft stash before being layered over each other on my background. I felt my page at this stage needed a little extra color balance so I added a 10mm strip of paper as a border strip to the left side of my layout with some more machine stitching. It’s amazing how such little details can change the overall appearance of your page!

The phrase stickers, cardstock stickers and ephemera are so cute in this collection! I brought balance to my photos by layering several floral elements and leaves. I also couldn’t resist adding one of the heart paper clips to one of my photos for fun. It added a lovely ‘earthy’ vibe to my completed theme.

To finish my page I added a big title sticker ‘Sweeter Than Honey’ from the phrase stickers, below my photo cluster. I also added cotton thread for a little extra color ‘pop’.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest scrapbooking page and it inspires you a little with your own memory keeping!
