Hello beautiful crafters! Soraya Maes here to share a fun creative process to make a colorful layout using the amazing Go the Scenic Route collection by Paige Evans.
To make the background, I first stamped the beautiful butterflies clear stamps in the collection with a low dry transparent ink and embossed them with white powder using my heat gun. I tried to stamp the butterflies according to where I wanted to place my photo on the layout. Then, I added the colors from blue to yellow and pink.
To add more watercolor effects I used the glass mat by WeR Memory Keepers to spread the pigments and thanks to a water brush I could easily finish the edges of the background.
I love when it comes time to add extra dimension so my favorite thing to do is use 3D foam squares and a hint of sewing! This is what I did for this strip of paper, where the photo will be placed. I didn’t color the strip to balance the final design of the layout. After adding some fussy cut flowers from of the paper, you can see how fun it already looks!
Now it’s time to add the photo and lots of pretty embellishments from the collection! I love the small enamel hearts, the tickets from the ephemera pack, and most of all, the puffy words! Each “stack” of embellishments is coordinated to where they are placed on the background for more fun.
And here is the final result! The layout is full of colors and details to tell the story of the photo. This will forever be a moment that we’ll cherish!
I hope you had fun joining me for this post which is also my first project as an American Crafts Design Team member, this is so exciting! I can’t wait to see all the gorgeous projects you’ll make with Go the Scenic Route!
