Christmas Magic Layout by Tazhiana Gordon

Hey friends! Tazhi here with a new project featuring a few of my favorite things: Christmas, Crate Paper, chipboard, and my yummy, yummy nephew Noah! I love how this layout turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well.

I was really inspired by the cut apart sheets in the Hey Santa line. I cut into the sheet that had 4” tall tags and used that as my focal element and built from there. I used three coordinating papers from the collection – a bluish mint green, a coral pink, and a classic black diagonal stripe to build some interest in my background by tearing the papers on an angle and then layering them on top of my white cardstock. Adding torn bits of patterned paper is a foolproof way to add texture and color to a background that’s also really easy to do over and over!

After I matted my photo on the same striped cardstock, I attached my tags and then pulled out the ephemera pack to work on embellishing. I love working in a collection because everything matches and there’s no guesswork as to whether things will look good or if they’ll coordinate. After choosing a few larger elements like that Santa on the medallion piece, I pulled out a few smaller ones, added them to my cluster, and then popped the whole cluster on foam for added dimension.

Next, I went to work creating a cluster on the bottom right that would have my title. I cut a strip of the same coral cardstock and tucked it behind the torn edge of my white paper before adding a few pieces of ephemera to create the cluster. The title “Christmas Magic” came from the chipboard sheet and then I added a few more chipboard pieces around my title and my photo cluster to repeat that texture and dimension. Next, I pulled out the puffy stickers and added a few small stars across the page to serve as enamel dots. Finally, I really wanted to use the metal charms and since my layout was full of tags, I tied two charms onto two of the tags using a piece of red sewing thread. I love the texture it gives the overall page and the little bit of shine it adds.

And there you have it: a fun 12×12 layout featuring a few of my favorite things! I hope it inspires you to tell some holiday stories of your own and to cut up your patterned papers! Happy Holidays and happy documenting!
