Christmas Album by Kylie Kingham

Hello sweet friends! It’s Kylie with you all today and I am going to share a fun mini album that I created recently. I wanted to make something that was compact and simplified, an album to hold some of my most treasured memories from the holiday season. For my project I used with the adorable Hey Santa collection by Crate Paper. On the front cover I have added a cute shaker pocket using one of the Pom Pom chipboard frames and the confetti set.

This album measures approximately 13cm high and 11cm wide with a spine measuring 4cm deep. I first created an ‘anchor’ to adhere my pages to by scoring cardstock at half centimetre increments and then folding them into separated peaks. Besides the inside and back side covers my album contains 5 double sided pages. You could add as many as you like, more pages means a wider spine for your album.

When crafting mini albums, I tend to like mine with a ‘rustic’ finish. What I mean by rustic is, I tend to leave any machine stitched threads a little longer and over-hanging, my stitched lines may be a little wonky, embellishments may over hang the side of the pages a little etc. I think this kind of finish creates a lovely ‘homemade’ appeal! To bind or keep my album together I glued some festive ribbon from my craft stash inside the lining of the front and back covers and tied it in a giant bow.

I created each page alternating various papers and ran each through my sewing machine before adhering them into place, adding a stitched border around the edges. I also LOVE including cut files on my pages and have used several in this album that are designed by Paige Evans. Some pages I have added as top loading pockets where I can store tags, notes, or extra photos too!

The Pom Pom chipboard frames are perfect for framing a quote card or photo as well as creating shaker pockets on your pages. Using some acetate sheets cut to size as a front cover, I’ve added some of the confetti set to mine and also layered some of the stickers and chipboard stickers over the frames for extra color.

I try to keep each page layout different and to also use multiple photos where I can. I usually print my photos at home and enjoy being able to resize them to fit my needs. The Holly Jolly alpha Thickers are a fun addition layered over photos. Since I’m not a fan of my handwriting, I’ve also used phrase stickers from the sticker book to create short sentence phrases to suit my pages.

Using a gift bag from the Gift Wrap set, I created a pocket for one of my pages to house multiple photos. Some of the Pine Branches also made a lovely feature behind a gift tag.

To finish off my album I have adhered another cut file to the inside of the back cover and layered some of the gorgeous gold phrase and accent stickers over the top. I also punched a small hole in the album spine so that I could tie on two of the beaded tassels.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and seeing my mini album. I hope my project gives you a little inspiration for creating your very own Christmas album.

Take care!
