Hello fellow crafty friends! Leigh here, to share a Fourth fo July Layout featuring the Shimelle Box of Crayons line. The bright colors are just right for all kinds of photos! The “On a Roll” paper inspired my whole layout, because it looks great as a background on its own.
I love that the Box of Crayons line has navy in it! I am such a fan of navy! My celebration page has colors other than red, white and blue on it, and I love the colors in this line. The background paper looks paper pieced , and I chose to cut a large star out of it. I used the Vicki Boutin mixed media paper to spray and splatter some Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist in Navy on the White Foundations paper under the star. The white paper holds the journaling and the photo and some more punched stars for the page. There are seven total stars on this layout, because our eyes like odd numbers better.
Here, you can see a close up of the rolled edge of the different patterns. I chose to zig-zag stitch the seams of each pattern to highlight and add the effect of a quilt pieced background. I love papers that come with different patterns because they are a fast way to create an interesting background.
The rolled edge of the star was easy to create after cutting out the star shape into the background paper. I simply tore strips to match each section and rolled them to tuck under the edge.
You can see the sparkly Shimelle Thickers better at this angle and see the texture and dimension they add to the page. I love the navy color of these thicker too!
What is a favorite color that you like to use in your paper crafting? I would love to see what you do with this great paper from Shimelle!
Thank you for joining me, Leigh
