A Unique Album for 2021 by Lucile Peignon

Hello crafty friends, Lucile here with a new mini album! Today, I present my album to you to collect all my memories of 2021. A few years ago I made an album that retraced my whole year month by month and I find it a great memory when we arrive in December. Sad not to have done it last year so I created one for the year 2021. The principle is that every month we have a double page to paste one or more small photos and then write a memory or an anecdote. At the end of the year we will have collected one souvenir per month which will illustrate our year, it’s great! Here we go I show you how I made my album.

To make my album I wanted a collection with a lot of colors. I used Amy Tangerine’s Late Afternoon collection, it’s perfect! To create the cover of my album I cut two squares to 15x15cm and two strips of 4x15cm from white cardstock. Then I assembled them by alternating a strip, a square, a strip, a square. I started by decorating my two 4×15 strips which are the edges of my album. I took a washi tape from Late Afternoon and I stuck it by connecting the pattern. I glued a second 15x15cm square of white cardstock to reinforce my covers.

Then I made the inside of my album. I created two accordion binders to put six pages on each side. This technique allows you to make albums that are not too big when you want to put a lot of pages. To make this binding I took a sheet 15cm wide and I folded strips every 0.5cm. I made an accordion folding, it’s very simple! To create my pages I cut 15×20 pieces of paper from the collection and then I folded them in half to get 10x15cm pages.

I used my We R Memory Keepers branded tab punch and cut 12 tabs, one for each month. I used a washi tape from the collection with the months of the year to stick them on each tab.

I added some decoration to my pages using embellishments from the collection but I didn’t overload the decoration to leave space to fill my album throughout the year.

Finally, I made the front cover of my album. I recovered the scraps of paper from which I cut my interior pages. I cut strips 1cm wide and glued them to my cover. Then I cut them to different heights. Then I took a pencil and wrapped the bottom of my strips of paper around the pencil to create a wrap effect at the bottom of each strip. On some bands I add shorter strips of paper to add more volume to my cover.

I used my cutting machine to cut 2021 from white cardstock. I glued my numbers with 3D foam squares to create a tone-on-tone effect on the top of my numbers. As I put a lot of colors with my strips of paper I wanted to add a clean effect. To finish I stuck a sentiment sticker from the Late Afternoon collection by Amy Tangerine.

I hope that this album will have pleased you and will have made you want to create an album to collect your memories of 2021!
