A Sweet, Valentine’s Day Project

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you go all out with decorations, treats and gifts or is it more low-key, maybe a nice dinner? This year I want to lay out a little breakfast spread for my family as a surprise when they wake up on Valentine’s Day!

Today I want to share a small easel that I decorated to be part of the table décor for Valentine’s Day!

I picked up this easel at the craft store a year or so ago and it’s been waiting all this time for me to turn it into something pretty! So I grabbed the Valentine’s collection from American Crafts and started playing.

I wanted to create a banner to go across the top of the easel so I got creative with the ephemera and stickers and arranged some super cute hearts and envelopes in a banner! To use the clear stickers in this way I simply popped them on some white cardstock and cut them out first!

I also wanted to add a photo to the easel – preferably one that I could switch out in the future. That was easily achieved by adhering a strong clip just under the banner with room for a photo that’s about 3” x 3”. To make the photo stand out even more, I hand drew a frame on the blackboard surface of the easel using a white chalk marker.

And finally, to the bottom right of the easel, I added a couple of thin sticker strips as well as the die cut ‘xoxo’ and a sentiment sticker, raised on pop dots for extra dimension.

So I’ve got my decorated easel and some cute paper fortune cookies (see in the jar in the first photo) for table decorations. I just need to add some valentines napkins and straws and of course the food to complete our celebration! Can’t wait!
